A couple of weeks spent in Islington and I am
already feeling the chills. I was so occupied by the lectures, assignments and
tests that I could barely feel the time pass by. But, yes! It’s getting more
and more interesting. Let’s talk about the modules that I am currently
engrossed in: Study Skills in Computing, Problem Solving in IT, Introduction to
programming and Logic respectively.
The first module gives knowledge on the
employment and communication skills which are expected in every profession. I
have been learning how to present ourselves and communicate with fellow members
or strangers. Furthermore, it also provides us expertise to writing reports,
personal statement in ways they are meant to be written.
The second module helps develop sound ability to
analyze a problem from different perspectives and adopt the most suitable way to
solve them. I faced numerous complications and hope they all add to my
know-how. I will also learn variety of database software and will be able to
handle and manipulate data at the end of the module.
The third module is core subject as I plan to be
a programmer. I am currently learning the basics of the Java-programming. Moreover,
projects and reports are assigned to us in regular basis to hone our
programming as well as documenting skills. This module will introduce
programming logic and build a firm foundation for our computing endeavors.
The fourth module is designed to offer the basic
mathematical understanding and also apply them to a variety of practical
problems to aid students think logically, systematically and creatively. The topics
of discussion include Logical gates, circuit diagrams, etc. which are vital for
understanding the way a computer system operates.
The modules seemed very dull at times but after
couple of weeks of understanding everything has started to make sense and I can
say that they will prove their worth in the long run.
